Uhmmmmmm..... Yea. Togainu No Chi (the manga) got licensed. By Tokyopop. What the hell. Why couldn't a publisher that ACTUALLY EDITS THEIR WORK (and finishes their series) get it? And one that doesn't molest character names? TP jerks their fans around so hard and I don't want to be waiting 16 months in between releases, never knowing if it's even going to come out at all.

Though I must say, I'm excited. This will be pretty much the first violent seme x seme shounen-ai / yaoi manga to come out here, because most everything else they've translated has been fluff (except Ai No Kusabi, which is awful, and a novel besides). Which makes me wary at the same time, because it may completely bomb and we'll get one volume before TP drops it. Or it will be huge and I hate it when my fandoms and/or fetishes get huge. Then again, I won't say no to more violent seme x seme yaoi hitting the American market, even if it means I have to share. I don't know though...I would think it would have been big here by now if it was going to. I don't know all that many people who like their yaoi that way (other than my FList, because I know you're all pervs like me)

Ugh. Very mixed feelings about this. I wonder when it's coming out?

BUT.....MAYBE IF THE MANGA DOES WELL HERE, SOMEONE WILL PICK UP THE GAME AND WE CAN FINALLY GET IT IN ENGLISH???? Though it would probably be the PS2 version, due to its lack of stockholm syndrome and necrophilia.

And it's lack of shirtless Gunzi. Damnit.

But TP hasn't been doing very well lately, are they taking a gamble or was this premeditated & they are just pushing ahead throwing out what they need to, to get where they want to be? They license so much junk anyhow...

Yea I really don't know what the crap Tokyopop thinks it's doing....especially because most of the other titles they announced aren't...very...popular...in Japan. I think they just randomly snatch up titles that they can get cheap licensing rights to, regardless of how good it is or whether or not it will sell.

Much as I love TnC, I do think it's taking a huge gamble. Like I said, violent non-con-ish yaoi really hasn't been released over here. It's either going to be a huge hit or a total bomb.

Tokyopop, huh? Hm. To be fair I don't own enough TP to really pass judgment, but heard about the whole name fuckery before with a couple of past series done and though it might not be a HUGE deal to some, to me it would grind on my nerves a bit.

BUT IM GOING TO BE OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THIS. Besides, I'm curious. A game would be suh-weeeeeeet. ~~but if there's no shirtless Gunzi. Then. Psh.~~

TP just has very bad business tactics. Every month they start more series than they continue, and most of them are awful. They tend to drop series mid-way and not announce it anywhere, but even more annoying is their tendency to hold back releases once a series gets popular. Basically, once they have the fans captivated, they do whatever the crap they want with us. They know we'll wait 8 months, so they put it off. And then what they release looks like it was translated by a second-year Japanese student. I swear none of their work is edited.

They basically are just trying to do way too much. =\ Viz publishes much fewer titles, but they also have all the big-name series. Bleach, FMA, Naruto, Death Note, Nana, etc etc....TP has this idea that the more series they have, the better they are, but...XD

WHERE IS THE GUNZI RAEP-TIEM SCENE???? But yea, they cut out EVERYTHING from the PS2 version. Except Shiki makes Akira drink water out of his hands which is...XD <-perv.

it'll be in plastic wrap probably! no worries about children getting their grubby hands all over it! glad to see that there's someone out there who doesn't like ai no kusabi either. i thought it was *so* boring.

I hope so? There's no actual sex in the manga (yet anyway). But it's REALLY bloody.

The writing style was awful. I hate the "let's-just-put-a-lot-of-swears-here" thing. And I don't like the art much either.

Yea I don't really want that either. I'm selfish and I hate it when my fandoms go mainstream. My other fandom is the new Gundam, so that's inevitable (and already being dubbed), but I didn't honestly expect Togainu No Chi to ever come over here.

My only consolation is that IRL, I'm attending a college where I'm pretty much the only anime fan. It's not like there's an anime club of scary crazy people who will suddenly be giggling about it in the hallways or anything.
